Tokyo (Japan), August 15 (LaPresse/AP) – Japan's economy grew by 1% year-on-year in the last quarter and by 0.3% compared to the previous quarter, exceeding expectations, thanks to exports that held up despite increased tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The United States has imposed a 15% tariff on imports from Japan. This represents an increase for some products compared to the past, but is lower than the previously announced 25% tariff by Trump. This marks the fifth consecutive quarter of growth for Japan.
