Milan, 11 August (LaPresse) – In July 2025, the national consumer price index for the entire community (NIC), excluding tobacco, rose by 0.4% on a monthly basis and by 1.7% on an annual basis (as in the previous month). This was reported by Istat, confirming its preliminary estimate. The stability of the general index's rate of change summarises the different trends of the various aggregates: prices of unprocessed food products accelerated (from +4.2% to +5.1%), as did processed food products (from +2.7% to +2.8%), miscellaneous services (from +1.6% to +2.2%) and transport services (from +2.9% to +3.3%); prices of regulated energy goods (from +22.6% to +17.1%) and recreational, cultural and personal care services (from +3.2% to +2.7%) are slowing down; the decline in prices of unregulated energy goods (from -4.2% to -5.2%) is becoming more pronounced. The trend in price growth slowed moderately for both goods (from +0.9% to +0.8%) and services (from +2.7% to +2.6%). The inflation differential between the services and goods sectors remained unchanged at +1.8 percentage points. The positive change in the general index was mainly due to increases in the prices of non-regulated energy (+2.2%) and regulated energy (+1.2%), transport services (+0.9%), miscellaneous services (+0.6%), processed food and recreational, cultural and personal care services (+0.3% both); on a monthly basis, however, prices fell for unprocessed food (-0.6%) and durable goods (-0.3%).
