Rome, 28 July (LaPresse) – ‘We will also need to work at national and European level to help those sectors that are particularly affected by this decision. This is the work we will obviously be doing in the coming hours, including talking to our business associations and our industrial sector’. This was stated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at a press conference in Addis Ababa, speaking about the agreement on 15% tariffs between the US and the EU. The Prime Minister explained that she had not yet had the opportunity to speak to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, but added that "Italy and Europe must now work to define all the details and continue to work to achieve the best possible agreement. After that, we need to sit down and consider how to support any sectors that may be particularly affected. This is at the national level, and I believe that the European level is also important, not only in terms of aid to those sectors that may face greater difficulties, but also in terms of what we can do for ourselves: the issue of simplification and the single market. In short, there is a lot of work that the European Union cannot afford to delay any longer. We need to speed things up and try to compensate for any possible limitations.
