Inflation: Istat confirms +0.2% in June and +1.7% year-on-year

Milan, July 16 (LaPresse) – In June 2025, the Italian National Consumer Price Index for the whole nation (NIC), including tobacco, increased by 0.2% compared to May and by 1.7% compared to June 2024 (up from +1.6% recorded the previous month). This was reported by Istat, confirming the preliminary estimate.

The year-on-year change in the general index is mainly influenced by the acceleration in the prices of unprocessed food products (from +3.5% to +4.2%) and transport-related services (from +2.6% to +2.9%), as well as the reduced decline in the prices of durable goods (from -1.1% to -0.8%).

Conversely, there was a slowdown in the prices of regulated energy products (from +29.3% to +22.6%). The year-on-year increase in goods prices slightly strengthened (from +0.8% to +0.9%), as did that of services prices (from +2.6% to +2.7%). The inflation gap between services and goods remains unchanged from the previous month at +1.8 percentage points.

The month-on-month increase in the general index is mainly due to the prices of transport-related services (+1.1%), recreational, cultural, and personal care services (+0.9%), processed food products (+0.3%), and housing-related services (+0.3%).

Prices decreased on a monthly basis for regulated energy products (-3.0%), non-regulated energy products (-0.7%), and unprocessed food products (-0.4%).
