Rome, June 19 (LaPresse) – Buses, trains, and planes: tomorrow may turn into a “black Friday” for transportation. A 24-hour general strike has been called by the autonomous unions USB, SGB, and CUB, with various motivations behind the protest, ranging from contract renewals to demands for investment in healthcare, education, transportation, welfare, and a ceasefire in Gaza. In Rome, public transport services will be guaranteed only during the legally protected time slots: from the beginning of service until 8:29 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:59 p.m. In Milan, ATM services are not guaranteed between 8:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and again after 6:00 p.m. until the end of service. In Naples, the public transport company states on its website that buses, trams, and trolleybuses will operate during guaranteed slots: from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with last departures scheduled 30 minutes before and after the strike. Train service disruptions may begin tonight at 9:00 p.m. and continue until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20. For regional trains, guaranteed time slots are from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. and from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A nationwide strike in the air transport sector is also planned, from midnight to 11:59 p.m. on June 20. A list of guaranteed flights is available in the “Guaranteed Flights in Case of Strike” section on the ENAC website.
