Milan, May 26 (LaPresse) – In 2025, the parental leave allowance will rise to 80% of salary for each parent, for up to three months. To access the increased benefit, parental leave must be taken within the child’s first six years of life (or within six years of the child entering the family in cases of adoption or foster care, and in any case before the child turns 18). This is outlined in a circular by INPS.
The 2023 Budget Law granted one month at 80%, while the 2024 Budget Law extended the benefit to a second month—initially at 60%, later raised to 80%. With the 2025 Budget Law, a third month—previously paid at only 30%—will now also be covered at 80%. The six months paid at 30% and the two unpaid months remain unchanged, unless income thresholds allow otherwise.
