Milan, 16 Apr. (LaPresse) – The annual inflation rate in the euro area was 2.2% in March 2025, down from 2.3% in February. A year earlier, the rate was 2.4%. Annual inflation in the European Union was 2.5% in March 2025, down from 2.7% in February. A year earlier, the rate was 2.6%. This was reported by Eurostat, the EU's statistical office, confirming preliminary estimates. The lowest annual rates were recorded in France (0.9%), Denmark (1.4%) and Luxembourg (1.5%). The highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (5.1%), Hungary (4.8%) and Poland (4.4%). Compared with February 2025, annual inflation fell in sixteen Member States, remained stable in one and rose in ten. In March 2025, the largest contribution to the annual inflation rate in the euro area came from services (+1.56 percentage points, pp), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (+0.57 pp), non-energy industrial goods (+0.16 pp) and energy (-0.10 pp).
