Turin, Jan. 24 (LaPresse) – ‘The State pursues purposes of general interest, it does not have to be a banker. So much so that we have rehabilitated Monte dei Paschi, we have come out of it and we will also come out definitively, perhaps in the future. After that, what this government has done is to have given confidence in absolute autonomy to a management that has achieved results that I must say are exceptional, that has a plan, that has made a market proposal. If the market responds we will be happy, if it does not respond we will take note of it'. This was said by Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti speaking at the ‘Stati generali dell'Economia’ in Arona. ‘I believe, however, that it is absolutely linear, transparent, and in the interest of the Italian economy, made up of banks and entrepreneurs who realise the general interest,’ he explained. Saving is a serious matter, it is also protected by the Constitution, we would miss the government not aiming to protect it,' he added.
