Organizers also highlighted special attention to young readers and digital trends: the Festhalle becomes a hub for fans and authors, featuring 84 book signings and 91 hours of autograph sessions, with over 20,000 visitors expected. On Saturday, October 18, the TikTok Book Awards will be presented.
On the political front, the Buchmesse hosts the “Frankfurt Calling” program: over 50 events dedicated to human rights, press freedom, the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, and democratic strategies against populism and authoritarianism. Speakers include Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Ressa, former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, and German Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig.
Buchmesse Director Juergen Boos emphasized: “We need spaces for listening and collaboration. The Buchmesse aims to be a place that unites. In polarizing times, the ability to create connections is also a political act.”
